About The Client

Mote Marine is an independent, non-profit, marine research organization based on City Island in Sarasota, Florida. Besides this location, they have additional campuses in eastern Sarasota County; Boca Grande, Florida, and the Florida Keys.

The Challenge

To create an immersive experience with the visitor by creating a 15-45 second animation for an elevator space, while giving the illusion of submerging underwater.

Timeline: 3 weeks

How Was The Design Problem Solved

When coming to a solution there are multiple right answers. We initially started to sketch and brainstorm our ideas through conversation and referencing our research. Then we reconvened together to discuss our options and give feedback. We went with the hide-and-seek aspect since it would be an easy activity to do. Because Mote Marine's main audience tends to be families with younger children, the animation is a stylized 2D animation to create an interest to learn more about the aquatic animals.
